Description

Overview

The Black Box LGC135A-R3 is a mini media converter designed to bridge copper Ethernet networks to gigabit fiber connections. It supports 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps speeds on the RJ45 port and converts these signals to a 1000 Mbps fiber link, enabling network extension beyond the typical 100-meter copper cable limit. This compact unit is ideal for extending network reach in environments where fiber is preferred for its distance and interference immunity.

Key features
  • Supports multiple Ethernet speeds (10/100/1000 Mbps) for versatile network compatibility
  • Works with industry-standard SFP modules, allowing selection of multimode or single-mode fiber to match distance and environment needs
  • Compact and slim design fits easily on desktops, inside control cabinets, or near point-of-sale terminals without occupying much space
  • Offers flexible power options including an external AC adapter, optional USB power cable for field use, and compatibility with rack-mounted PowerTray systems for high-density setups
  • Auto MDI/MDI-X feature removes the need for crossover cables, simplifying installation and reducing cable requirements
Key specs
  • Ethernet port speeds: 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps
  • Fiber link speed: 1000 Mbps
  • Compatible fiber types: multimode and single-mode via SFP modules
  • Maximum fiber distance: up to 80 kilometers with single-mode SFP

Connectivity and compatibility

This media converter connects a standard RJ45 Ethernet port to a fiber optic network using SFP transceivers. The use of SFP modules means you can tailor the fiber connection to your specific needs, whether short-range multimode or long-range single-mode fiber. The auto MDI/MDI-X feature ensures compatibility with any standard Ethernet cable, eliminating concerns about cable type during setup.

Installation and setup

Installation is straightforward and requires no special configuration. Simply insert the appropriate SFP module, connect the copper and fiber cables, and power the unit using one of the available options. The plug-and-play design makes it suitable for quick deployment in various environments, from office networks to industrial settings.

Ideal uses and environments

This converter is well suited for network administrators and IT professionals who need to extend Ethernet networks beyond copper limitations without adding complexity. It fits well in education, healthcare, retail, and industrial environments where reliable, high-speed fiber connections are necessary. Its compact size and flexible power options also make it a strong choice for fieldwork and dense rack installations.

Product warranty

We act solely as a reseller. Any product warranty is provided and administered by the manufacturer, not by our store. That means eligibility, coverage, and outcomes are determined by the manufacturer’s policy for each brand and model. Before purchasing, we recommend reviewing the warranty terms on the manufacturer’s website or in the product documentation to confirm what is covered and for how long.

If you need warranty service, please file the claim directly with the manufacturer. They may require proof of purchase, the product serial number, original packaging, photos, or basic troubleshooting. Some brands ask you to register the product or obtain a case number before shipping it for repair or replacement. We don’t submit or approve claims, but we can point you to the correct support links and contact details.

Keep your invoice and packaging in a safe place, and report any functional issues to the manufacturer as soon as they appear. If you’re unsure whether a problem is covered, the manufacturer’s support team can confirm next steps and timelines. While we cannot intervene in decisions or outcomes, we’re happy to provide purchase documentation or guidance so you can move through the warranty process smoothly.
