Description
Overview
The Cisco VIC2-4FXO= is a four-port FXO voice and fax network module designed to integrate standard analog phone lines into a Cisco IP telephony environment. It enables smooth communication between traditional public switched telephone network (PSTN) lines or legacy PBX extensions and IP-based systems when installed in compatible Cisco voice gateway routers. This module supports essential telephony functions such as dial tone, ring voltage, and caller ID, ensuring analog devices like fax machines and alarm panels continue to operate reliably within modern networks.
Key features
- Four FXO ports that connect analog voice or fax lines to IP telephony systems, maintaining compatibility with existing infrastructure.
- Standard RJ 11 connectors simplify installation by using familiar telephone wiring, reducing setup time and complexity.
- Universal configuration options allow administrators to select impedance and country settings via software, making the module adaptable to various regulatory environments worldwide.
- Caller ID support and battery reversal detection improve call control and reliability by accurately recognizing call signaling and status.
- Designed for use with multiple Cisco router series, enabling a single hardware platform to handle voice, data, and security needs at branch offices or customer premises.
- High reliability with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of over 1.2 million hours, ensuring long-term stable operation.

Connectivity and compatibility
This module integrates seamlessly with Cisco voice gateway routers, allowing organizations to connect analog PSTN lines or legacy PBX extensions to their IP telephony networks. The use of RJ 11 connectors means technicians can use existing telephone cabling without additional adapters or complex rewiring. Its universal configuration supports compliance with telephony standards in most countries, making it suitable for global deployments.
Ideal uses and environments
The VIC2-4FXO= is well suited for businesses that maintain a small number of analog lines as a backup when IP connectivity is unavailable or for those that need to support legacy devices such as fax machines, alarm systems, or elevator phones that rely on traditional phone lines. Service providers can also leverage this module to offer hosted voice services while preserving local breakout capabilities for emergency calls. It fits well in branch offices or customer premises where voice, data, and security functions are consolidated on a single Cisco router platform.

Product warranty
Product warranty
We act solely as a reseller. Any product warranty is provided and administered by the manufacturer, not by our store. That means eligibility, coverage, and outcomes are determined by the manufacturer’s policy for each brand and model. Before purchasing, we recommend reviewing the warranty terms on the manufacturer’s website or in the product documentation to confirm what is covered and for how long.
If you need warranty service, please file the claim directly with the manufacturer. They may require proof of purchase, the product serial number, original packaging, photos, or basic troubleshooting. Some brands ask you to register the product or obtain a case number before shipping it for repair or replacement. We don’t submit or approve claims, but we can point you to the correct support links and contact details.
Keep your invoice and packaging in a safe place, and report any functional issues to the manufacturer as soon as they appear. If you’re unsure whether a problem is covered, the manufacturer’s support team can confirm next steps and timelines. While we cannot intervene in decisions or outcomes, we’re happy to provide purchase documentation or guidance so you can move through the warranty process smoothly.
