Description

Overview

The Tripp Lite N282-01M-28-BK is a QSFP28 to QSFP28 passive direct attach copper (DAC) cable designed to deliver a full 100 Gbps connection over a short distance of one meter. It provides a high-speed copper link ideal for connecting switches, blade servers, or top-of-rack aggregation equipment without the need for separate transceivers or fiber optics. This cable supports 100GBASE-CR4 standards and merges four 28 Gbps SFP lanes into a single interface, simplifying your network setup while maintaining low latency and reducing costs.

Key features
  • Delivers a 100 Gbps connection using passive copper, eliminating the need for power-hungry optical transceivers.
  • One-meter length keeps short-range connections organized and minimizes signal delay.
  • Complies with 100GBASE-CR4 and MSA SFF-8665 standards for reliable interoperability.
  • Compatible with Cisco QSFP-100G-CU1M and similar QSFP28 ports, ensuring seamless integration in mixed-vendor environments.
  • Supports 128G Fibre Channel and EDR InfiniBand protocols, making it suitable for converged networks handling Ethernet, storage, and HPC traffic.
  • Constructed with 26 AWG conductors and zinc die-cast connectors to maintain signal integrity and resist electromagnetic interference.
  • Pull-tab ejectors allow quick, tool-free installation and removal, which is especially useful in dense rack environments.
  • Consumes less power and reduces port costs compared to equivalent fiber optic solutions, helping to optimize data center efficiency.
Key specs
  • Data rate: 100 Gbps
  • Cable length: 1 meter (3.28 feet)
  • Connector type: QSFP28 to QSFP28
  • Conductor gauge: 26 AWG
  • Standards compliance: 100GBASE-CR4, MSA SFF-8665
  • Supported protocols: 128G Fibre Channel, EDR InfiniBand
  • Connector material: Zinc die-cast
Connectivity and compatibility

This cable is designed to connect QSFP28 ports on switches, servers, and aggregation devices, providing a direct copper link that supports multiple high-speed protocols. Its form factor and compliance with industry standards make it a drop-in replacement for Cisco QSFP-100G-CU1M cables, allowing it to fit into existing network infrastructures without compatibility concerns. The cable’s pull-tab ejectors facilitate easy handling in tight rack spaces, making it practical for data centers and enterprise environments.

Ideal uses and environments

The Tripp Lite N282-01M-28-BK is well suited for data centers, cloud service providers, and enterprise IT teams that require high-bandwidth, low-latency connections between equipment located close to each other. It works effectively in top-of-rack or blade server configurations where space is limited and power efficiency is critical. This cable is a strong choice for converged networks that combine Ethernet, storage, and high-performance computing traffic, offering a cost-effective alternative to fiber optics without sacrificing performance.

Product warranty

We act solely as a reseller. Any product warranty is provided and administered by the manufacturer, not by our store. That means eligibility, coverage, and outcomes are determined by the manufacturer’s policy for each brand and model. Before purchasing, we recommend reviewing the warranty terms on the manufacturer’s website or in the product documentation to confirm what is covered and for how long.

If you need warranty service, please file the claim directly with the manufacturer. They may require proof of purchase, the product serial number, original packaging, photos, or basic troubleshooting. Some brands ask you to register the product or obtain a case number before shipping it for repair or replacement. We don’t submit or approve claims, but we can point you to the correct support links and contact details.

Keep your invoice and packaging in a safe place, and report any functional issues to the manufacturer as soon as they appear. If you’re unsure whether a problem is covered, the manufacturer’s support team can confirm next steps and timelines. While we cannot intervene in decisions or outcomes, we’re happy to provide purchase documentation or guidance so you can move through the warranty process smoothly.
