In 1947, Koo In-hwoi established Lak Hui Chemical Industrial Corp. in South Korea, marking the beginning of what would become LG. The company initially focused on cosmetics and plastics, achieving a significant milestone in 1952 by becoming the first South Korean company to enter the plastics industry. In 1958, recognizing the growing demand for consumer electronics, the company founded GoldStar Co., Ltd., which produced South Korea's first radio in 1959. Over the following decades, GoldStar expanded its product line to include televisions, refrigerators, and air conditioners, contributing to the modernization of South Korean households. In 1995, to better align with its global ambitions, the company rebranded as LG, an abbreviation of "Lucky Goldstar," and adopted the slogan "Life's Good." Today, LG is a global leader in electronics, offering a wide range of products from home appliances to cutting-edge smartphones and OLED televisions, continually innovating to improve the quality of life for consumers worldwide.
