Belkin

In 1983, Chet Pipkin founded Belkin in his parents' garage in Hawthorne, California, with the idea of creating reliable computer cables for the growing personal computer market. Recognizing a growing need, he began crafting cables that connected PCs to printers, selling them to local computer shops. As demand grew, Pipkin enlisted the help of family and friends to meet orders. By 1985, Belkin expanded production by partnering with factories in Asia to serve a global market. Throughout the 1990s, the company broadened its product line to include surge protectors and USB storage devices. In 2012, Belkin launched the WeMo brand, entering the smart home market. In 2013, Belkin acquired Linksys, a well-known networking company, further expanding its product offerings. In 2018, Belkin was acquired by Foxconn Interconnect Technology, a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. Today, Belkin is headquartered in El Segundo, California, and continues to design innovative products that enhance connectivity and simplify technology use for consumers worldwide.
